Connect Gusto employee records and employment status to Doow.

Connect Gusto when Doow needs employee records and employment status from Gusto.

What you need

  • A Gusto account for the company you want Doow to read.
  • A Gusto admin who can approve the HRIS connection.

Keep payroll data out of this connection

Gusto is also a payroll system. Doow uses this HRIS connection for employee reporting fields, not payroll runs, tax filings, contractor payments, or bank details.

How to connect

  1. Go to Company Settings, then Integrations in your Doow workspace.
  2. Find Gusto and select Connect.
  3. Complete the secure Gusto linking flow.
  4. Sign in with the Gusto admin account that owns approval.
  5. Approve read access for the employee fields Doow imports.
  6. Wait for Doow to verify the connection and begin the initial employee sync.

What Doow does not read

  • Salary, compensation, payroll, or dismissal payroll data
  • Tax filings or tax documents
  • Contractor payments or payment history
  • Banking, direct deposit, or payroll funding details
  • Benefits elections or sensitive payroll configuration

Confirm the sync worked

After connecting, open the integration detail page from Company Settings, then Integrations. A healthy Gusto sync shows a connected state, a recent sync timestamp, and imported employee records with work email and employment status where Gusto returns them.

If records are missing, confirm that the connected Gusto admin can read the employees Doow needs and that those employees have work email addresses.

Troubleshooting

Use these checks when Gusto employee data is missing or stale:

  • Confirm the connected Gusto admin can read the expected employee records.
  • Confirm employee work email addresses are present and match identity records.
  • Check whether onboarding, terminated, or inactive employees are filtered by Gusto permissions or sync settings.
  • Check the integration event log for permission or sync errors.

Disconnecting

Go to Company Settings, then Integrations, find Gusto, and select Disconnect. Doow deletes the stored authorization immediately. Revoke the connected app in Gusto when you want to remove provider-side access too.
