Banking integrations
Link a bank account to import transactions into Doow via Plaid or Yapily.
Use a banking integration when Doow needs to see transactions directly from your bank account. Doow reads transaction data — merchant names, amounts, dates, and categories — so it can match payments against apps in your software catalog.
Banking data is different from accounting data. Accounting integrations pull categorized expenses from your books. Banking integrations pull raw transactions as they clear your bank account.
Supported providers
Doow uses two banking intermediaries depending on your region:
Link a US bank account through the Plaid Link flow.
Link a UK or EU bank account through open banking.
When to use banking
Connect a bank account when:
- Your accounting system does not yet categorize software spend.
- You want Doow to see transactions as they clear, before they reach your books.
- You want to cross-reference bank transactions against accounting expenses for a more complete spend picture.
Use an accounting integration instead when your books already categorize software expenses by vendor, category, or entity.
How banking connections work
When you link a bank account, Doow does not receive your banking login credentials. Instead, you authenticate through a secure intermediary:
- Plaid handles the connection for US banks. You complete Plaid's Link flow in an embedded widget without leaving the page.
- Yapily handles the connection for UK and EU banks using open banking (PSD2). Your browser redirects to your bank's consent page, then returns to Doow after you approve.
After the initial connection, Doow syncs new transactions on a recurring schedule to keep your spend data current.
What Doow reads from bank accounts
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Account name | The name of the linked bank account |
| Account type | Checking, savings, or other account classification |
| Balance | Current and available balance at sync time |
| Transaction amount | The amount of each transaction |
| Merchant name | The merchant or payee on the transaction |
| Transaction date | When the transaction was authorized and when it cleared |
| Category | Transaction category where the provider returns it |
| Currency | The currency of the account and transactions |
What Doow does not read
- Banking login credentials or passwords
- Account numbers or routing numbers after the initial link
- Internal bank transfers or non-merchant transactions outside the sync scope
- Investment holdings, loan details, or credit card statements beyond transaction records
- Data from accounts you did not select during the linking flow
Confirm the sync worked
After linking, open the integration detail page from Company Settings, then Integrations. A healthy banking sync shows a connected state, a recent sync timestamp, and imported transactions with merchant names and amounts.
If no transactions appear, confirm the linked account has recent transaction activity and that the connection did not require re-authentication.
Disconnecting
Go to Company Settings, then Integrations, find your linked bank account, and select Disconnect. Doow deletes the stored authorization immediately. Transaction records already imported are retained until you delete them or your retention settings remove them.
